Orticolario. The Origin

Theme and Plants Orticolario 2020. Giorgia Caccia. Ph. Luigi Fieni

Ph. Luigi Fieni. Modella: Giorgia Caccia.

“The Origin” is the first response to the pandemic

It is a virtual project of Orticolario, the story of the origin, of the spark from which an idea is born, of how Seduction and Maple, the themes of the year, are the inspiration of all participants.
An immersive experience, developed with Matterport 3D technology (desktop recommended), including VR (virtual reality) viewers.
It will project the user in any place, thus breaking down any geographical barrier. Entry to “The Origin” is free.

3D virtual tour experience

It will take place in Villa Erba and offer a walk in the park, in the exhibition centre, in Villa Antica, for a guided tour (experience to buy for a fee and purchasable again from 03.10.2022) and its dungeons.

Sheets

Along the route there will be linkable points of interest, each of which is an exhibitor: from the nurseryman to the craftsman, from the artist to the landscape architect, presenting a sheet with the products and the news of the year, a project, a thought.

Unreleased videos

Numerous sheets will contain a video, each of which is a portal opening onto landscapes in Italy and in the world: unexpected places in the mountains of Lake Como, nurseries, private gardens, a valley of maples in Japan, the park of a castle in France, …
If you find yourself in a summer garden, or in a spring forest, while outside the window it is autumn or winter, don’t be surprised. Each video proposes nature as inspiring muse, beyond the boundaries of time and space …
You do not have to choose, but let yourself be seduced by everything and everyone.

The theme and the plant of the edition

Seduction

Nature and its shrewdness, deception and subtle conjuring tricks.
To attract, deceive, survive.
Seduction like a ritual and a spell that brings you closer.
Seduction in the forms of the landscape and among the pleasures of the garden, a place full of sensoriality, an ethical and aesthetic space, where nature and imagination can be cultivated.

The maple

“Lake Como is suitable for all those who do not intend to resist their passions”, this is what the French writer and politician Maurice Barrès told about his journey on the Lario.
Who knows how many passions and loves were born on the shores of the lake, in the gardens of its villas, perhaps in the shade of the large maples arrived from the Rising Sun, where their leaves symbolize lovers.
These are the stories of the Gardenlovers, who seduce and let themselves be seduced among the foliage of these skilled transformers of the autumn landscape from the Far East to Europe, up to the North America.
