Giuliana De Girolamo and her large crepe paper flowers
The lotus flower, one of the best-known aquatic plants, has its roots in the mud. While generating itself in it, it has the magical ability to emerge on the surface in all its pure and uncontaminated splendour.
Water, its other vital element, is the place that welcomes it and at the same time what rejects it: its water-repellent leaves remain constantly immaculate.
This nature makes it unique and offers a profound message spread by Eastern philosophy: “learn to live in the world, without letting yourself be contaminated by it”.
